Abstract
It is shown that the method of approximate relativistic radial wavefunctions can be applied to the Mn2+ S ground-state splitting with the overlap model. The contributions of the relativistic crystal field are estimated and its role in splitting the ground state of Mn2+ is discussed. Keywords
