Abstract
Deep-sea wood-ingesting limpets of the genus Pectinodonta Dall (Acmaeidae: Pectinodontinae) are recorded for the first time from New Zealand and Australia. Pectinodonta komitica n. sp., P. waitemata n. sp., and “Roya” coniformis from the Early to Middle Miocene of New Zealand are the first recorded fossil representatives of the genus. Recent species are P. aupouria n. sp. and P. morioria from New Zealand, and P. kapalae n. sp. from New South Wales. Pectinodontine diet is discussed.
