Sacrococcygeal Teratoma in The Adult

Abstract
Sacrococcygeal teratoma is an infrequently encountered tumor. In the great majority of instances, experience with therapy for this tumor has been limited to treatment of patients in the infant age group. A sacrococcygeal teratoma which presents in an adult is indeed rare. Included in this report is a summary of two instances in which a sacrococcygeal teratoma was observed in an adult. Also, similar case reports found by review of the literature have been tabulated and analyzed herein. Report of Cases Case 1. —This 43-year-old white man was admitted to DeWitt Army Hospital, on Nov 7, 1961, for excision of a presacral mass. He had been admitted previously, in March, 1961, because of an episode of acute diverticulitis of the sigmoid colon.
