Abstract
The volume of sodium in the bcc structure was measured at 293 K to 9 GPa using a high pressure, x-ray diffraction technique. The compression of NaF was used as the pressure gauge. These data, the shock compression data of Rice and Bakanova et al., and the melting curve data of Luedemann and Kennedy, and Ivanov et al., are all used to establish a model for the equation of state of sodium. Keywords
