Abstract
Wide use of heparin as prophylaxis in selected persons at high risk of thrombosis promises to reduce the incidence of pulmonary embolism dramatically. Administered in low doses, heparin prevents deep-vein thrombosis yet avoids bleeding complications and the need for laboratory monitoring.Keywords
