Abstract
An instance is reported in which Ebstein''s malformation of the tricuspid valve occurring in a man aged 30 years became complicated by an abscess of the midbrain and pons. There was, in addition, a defect of the atrial septum. It is emphasized that a right-to-left shunt which must have occurred through this defect was the portal of entry for bacteria into the left side of the circulation, leading to the abscess of the brain. This is the 2d reported case of Ebstein''s malformation of the tricuspid valve in which abscess of the brain was a complication. Keywords
