Abstract
Methodical examinations of the micrometric measurement of the thickness of the epidermis were undertaken in experimental acanthosis of guinea-pigs, flanks. In particular, the following points were examined the orientation to give to the histological section (parallel or perpendicular to the line of implantation of the hairs), the number of measurements necessary on each section, the influence of the contraction or dilatation of the pieces of excised skin, the influence of compression of the specimen during fixation. The reproducibility of measurement of the thickness of the epidermis is expressed each time in the form of the relative dispersion (relative error in percentages). The best conditions for exact measurement of acanthosis are presented. Keywords
