CANCER OF THE LARYNXITS INCREASING INCIDENCE

Abstract
The incidence of malignant neoplasms is no quodlibetic subject. In fact no phase of it could be truthfully so called, inasmuch as no one can say today what bearing any kind of study may have on the ultimate solution of the many problems presented by these diseases. Incidence is always regarded as one of the most important things to study in the search for etiologic factors, and knowledge of causes is usually fundamental to prophylaxis. It seems not unreasonable to hope that some day the researches of members of the medical profession will add the prevention of cancer to the list of achievements in preventive medicine. A study of the trend of the incidence of cancer of the larynx seems of particular importance because of the generally held opinion among clinicians that cancer deeper in the respiratory system is of increasing frequency.
