Unusual Tumors of the Female Urethra

Abstract
Two patients with primary adeoncarcinoma and another with primary melanoma of the female urethra are reported. Adenocarcinoma comprises less than 10% of the total urethral malignancies and arises from the periurethral glands. Melanoma occurs in less than 3% of urethral malignant lesions. These malignancies usually occur in postmenopausal women and present with lower urinary tract symptoms of pain, hematuria or local bleeding, dysuria, and incontinence. The most common treatment is a combination surgical excision and radiation therapy. The prognosis is poor.
