Abstract
This Letter presents a model for tunneling-induced disorder in solids which encompasses both hindered rotors (such as and C) and hydrogen-bonded ferroelectrics (such as KP). The model indicates that while the interaction between tunneling systems decreases tunneling, coupling to phonons actually increases tunneling.
