Abstract
The stability of a nonneutral, rapidly rotating electron beam propagating in an axially inhomogeneous magnetic field is considered. It is shown that there exists an instability, driven by an axial shear in the rotation velocity, which does not exist in the uniform limit. Selected numerical results are presented. Keywords
