Abstract
Controlled air is frequently used as a source of pressure in triaxial tests. The most common arrangement is an air-water interface chamber to control the cell pressure. In some cases the air-water interface is established within the testing chamber itself. This latter approach has been recommended for dynamic and rapid cyclic load testing, in particular, as a means for accommodating the rapid rate of volume change produced by movement of the loading ram into the cell. Keywords
