Control of the Garden Centipede in California

Abstract
In the delta of the Sacramento River the garden centipede, Scutiqerella immaculata, can be successfully controlled by flooding infested land for a period of several days to a week during the warmest part of the summer. Land cropped to sugar beets favors a build up in the population more than land cropped to onions. Calcium cy-anamid has apparently no direct effect upon the garden centipede, but is beneficial if applied to soil deficient in available N. CS2 is effective even when applied to cold wet soil of a levee, if 2 ounces are put in holes 18 inches apart, the holes in alternate rows being staggered.
