Some Optical Properties of MgO in the Vacuum Ultraviolet

Abstract
The optical absorption and the excitation spectrum for luminescence of synthetic periclase crystals have been determined in the vacuum ultraviolet. From these measurements it is deduced that the width of the forbidden energy band of MgO is approximately 7.4 ev.Keywords
