Abstract
Rats exposed to cold air lose weight in the first few days due to unsatisfactory food intake. The stomach contents 2 hours after spontaneous food intake, and the stomach emptying time were measured. Transfer of rats from room (22 [degree]C) to either low (3[degree]C) or high (37 [degree]C) environmental temperature immediately following a protein meal delays emptying of stomach. After adaptation to changed surrounding temperature, stomach emptying was found to be again similar to that seen at room temperature.
