Real-space convergence of the force series in the lattice dynamics of germanium

Abstract
It is shown how phonon dispersion in germanium along the [100] and [111] directions can be described in terms of planar force constants, which are determined ab initio by using the local-density-functional theory. Anharmonicity, real-space extent, and physical origins of the above forces are discussed.Keywords
