2-CHLOROPROCAINE: A NEW LOCAL ANESTHETIC AGENT

Abstract
Duration of anesthesia of intradermal skin wheals with 2-chloroprocaine were significantly greater than with procaine. 130 regional nerve blocks were characterized by absence of absorption reactions, rapid onset of anesthesia, and higher percentage of success than with other agents even when no paraesthesias were obtained. 90 regional nerve blocks for dental anesthesia were done. Spinal anesthesia was carried out on 214 patients; 100 mg. 2-chloroprocaine provided excellent anesthesia for any upper abdominal surgery.
