Abstract

Poison ivy (Rhus radicans L.) occurs in repeatedly disturbed habitats in every province except Newfoundland. Three varieties are recognized in Canada: var. radicans, var. rydbergii (Small ex Rydberg) Rehder, and var. negundo (Greene) G. A. Mulligan. Variety rydbergii is the most common and widespread. The biology of poison ivy and the dermatitis it causes in humans is discussed.
