Abstract
Presentation of CaseA 61-year-old man was admitted to the hospital because of pulmonary lesions.There was a long history of a symptomatic duodenal ulcer without bleeding. Four years before admission hypertension was found, and chlorothiazide was prescribed. Eighteen months before entry a diagnosis of diabetes mellitus was made, and treatment with insulin zinc (Lente insulin), 40 units daily, was begun. After losing 14 kg in weight on a dietary regimen he was able to reduce his insulin dose gradually. Two months before admission he discontinued insulin; repeated tests disclosed no glycosuria.
