Research undertaken on the optical and thermal characteristics of line-axis concentrating solar energy collectors is reviewed. It is concluded that whilst most aspects of symmetric systems are well understood, much remains to be clarified regarding the performance, particularly thermal, of asymmetric systems. Keywords
