To the Editor: Contrary to their conclusion that "children who acquire CMV [cytomegalovirus] in a day-care center frequently transmit the virus to their mothers," Pass et al. (May 29 issue)1 failed to establish that CMV acquired in day-care centers was the source of CMV infections in the children or that these strains were transmitted to their mothers. They only reported a correlation between seroconversion in susceptible parents and CMV excretion by their children.
