High-intensity lasers focus on clusters

Abstract
Lasers are now able to generate ultrashort pulses with extremely high intensities. These pulses have electric fields that exceed the fields experienced by the valence electrons in atoms and molecules. The duration of the pulses are also comparable with the timescale of nuclear vibrations in molecules. Under these extreme conditions, many new phenomena have been observed in both gaseous and solid targets.
