Abstract
The direction of Williams domain in an AC or a DC electric field (WDAC, WDDC) is perpendicular to the rubbing direction (RD) or inclines at an angle of about 60 degrees from the RD, respectively. When a cell width is as narrow as the period of WD, it is found that the direction of WDAC inclines from the perpendicular direction and the inclination becomes larger as the cell width narrows, while there is only the WDDC with even numbered stripes perpendicular to the RD. These different phenomena are considered from the viewpoint of the symmetry of the flow structure. It is seen that the positively charged carrier flows mainly in WDDC.Keywords
