Abstract
The female sweetpotato weevil, Cylas formicarius elegantulus (Summers), produces a sex pheromone to which only males are responsive. A laboratory bioassay was devised to monitor isolation of the pheromone that was collected either from whole body extracts or from filter paper on which virgin females had rested. Female extracts could be separated into 3 distinct areas of sex pheromone activity by liquid chromatography. Keywords
