Abstract
Starting with an Anderson Hamiltonian for a metallic system with impurities, adding to it a spin-orbit scattering term for the conduction electrons, and performing a Schrieffer-Wolff canonical transformation, one induces an sd model which takes into account spin-orbit scattering in a consistent fashion. The Hamiltonian derived in this way is used to discuss the alteration of the Kondo effect to lowest order in perturbation theory (for TTk) and the EPR residual linewidth.
