Abstract
This, of a series, deals with aluminum in animals. Analyses of Al content of various invertebrates as established by numerous workers are given, as is a table of the Al content of the organs of mammals. The possible role of Al in enzymatic catalysis, its metabolic course in the body, and its relationship to phosphate metabolism is discussed. Attention is also given to the biogeochemistry and functions of scandium, yttrium and lanthanides.
