Abstract
For a process where the pump power is divided between two modes the frequency shift is shown to be directly proportional to the intermodal delay, provided the material dispersion has the appropriate form. Results obtained with a vapour-axial-dispersion silica fibre demonstrate the subpicosecond resolution which is possible.Keywords
