Onset of charge-density-wave conduction: Switching and hysteresis in Nb

Abstract
We report the observation of a switching phenomenon associated with the development of the current-carrying charge-density-wave (CDW) state of Nb. We suggest that this effect is associated with the coupling of CDW regions and with the establishment of a coherent sliding CDW state in the material.
