Abstract
This article focuses on the development of a programme of self-administration of medicines within an oncology setting. Previous studies which have developed this concept demonstrate that such a programme has a positive impact on a patient's knowledge of his/her illness and treatment. Compliance with drug regimens increases and patients are given back control over one aspect of their lives while in hospital. The development of an individualized drug administration programme within an oncology unit and how it will be evaluated in the future are described. Keywords
