ACTION OF ACTH AND CORTISONE ON THE HISTOPATHOLOGY OF RABBITS DURING IMMUNIZATION

Abstract
The influence of ACTH or cortisone on the histopathological pattern (spleen, liver and bone marrow) caused by re-injection of immunized rabbits with typhoid-parathphoid vaccine antigen was studied. When cortisone or ACTH were started simultaneously with the vaccine re-injection, no changes in the typical histopathological picture occurred. If, however these hormones are started 1 week prior to the re-injection, a marked and nearly-complete inhibition of histological reaction resulted. Antibody formation was also inhibited to a similar degree.
