Abstract
The study of inflammatory reaction in solid tissues frequently raises difficulties, because a three dimensional reconstruction of the vascular architecture can only be performed by studying serial sections. On the other hand the topographical localisation of inflammatory infiltrates to specific portions of the vascular system is of key importance for the understanding of the dynamics of the inflammatory process. This poor accessibility is one of the reasons for the scanty information regarding immunological processes on the vessel wall leading to disturbances on the blood brain barrier. Isolated leptomeninges which are stripped off the spinal cord by microsurgical techniques now offer new possibilities to study these important questions. Keywords
