Abstract
Inadvertent injury to adjacent vessels during operations for intervertebral discs may result in retroperitoneal emorrhage or the formation of arteriovenous fistulas. Surgical correction of the fistula and restoration of normal blood flow dynamics, immediately re-establishes the normal circulatory pattern. Awareness of the possibility of arteriovenous fistula occurring during surgery may be helpful in its prevention, or in its early recognition and repair should they occur. Keywords
