Abstract
The linguatulid Porocephalus crotali (Humboldt, 1808) occurs as a nymph in a variety of mammals, and as an adult principally in crotalid snakes (Sambon, 1922, J. Trop. Med. 25: 188–206; 391–428). Although a number of isolated records of nymphs have been reported from North American mammals, only Penn & Martin (1941, J. Wildl. Mgt 5: 13–14) and Layne (1967, Bull. Wildl. Dis. Assoc. 3: 105–09) have analyzed infections with respect to host, habitat and population trends. Keywords
