Abstract
CLOSTRIDIUM tertium§ has been classified as a nontoxin-producing, nonpathogenic species of clostridia. We are presenting 2 cases below in which this organism was cultured from the bloodstream of patients with similar illnesses for which no other definitive diagnosis could be made other than the possibility of a septicemia due to Cl. tertium.Case ReportsCase 1. D.O., a 7-year-old boy, had been sick for approximately 72 hours before admission on February 11, 1962, with a temperature that on the day of admission had reached 105°F. by mouth. He had a nonproductive cough and complained of a slight sore throat. . . .Keywords
