Yukawa Couplings and Global Symmetries in Four-Generation Superstring Models

Abstract
We investigate global symmetries and Yukawa couplings in the Calabi-Yau manifold K which results in four-generation models. By the full use of global symmetries on the compactified manifold, all Yukawa couplings are calculated concretely and they are expressed in terms of a few parameters. It is shown that among various types of the embedding of Gd = Π 1 ( K ) into E6 the most attractive model is the one with the gauge symmetry G = SU (3) C × SU (2) L × SU (2) R × U (1) 2 at the compactification scale. In this model quark/lepton mass matrices and the longevity of proton are discussed in connection with the R -symmetry.Keywords
