Abstract
Short-lived macrocytes were produced in response to specific therapy in severely iron-deficient rats and in two patients. These findings add weight to our hypothesis that the production of defective, short-lived macrocytes is a phenomenon common to states in which there is marked erythroid hyperactivity in the presence of adequate nutrients. Keywords
