Abstract
A new antidepressant A.F.-1161, a hydrochloride derivative of triazolpiridine or Trazodone, was utilized in several psychosomatic disorders. The previously proved low toxicity, tranquilizing and antidepressive effects of this product, led us to try its usefulness in psychosomatic diseases, where the depressive component can be demonstrated. Thus, we selected 100 ‘somatic’ patients who showed depressive signs on the Hamilton Rating Scale for Depression and submitted them to Trazodone or placebo, following the double-blind technique. Considerations on the relationship between somatic disorders and depressive states are presented in order to explain the positive results obtained in this research. Keywords
