Abstract
A simplified representation for the problem of a point source and point detector locatedted above an interface is discussed. It is shown that the geometrical effects can be taken into account by a simple scaling function. For a given material and radiation the remaining effects depend primarily on one angular variable with only a secondary dependence on the ratio of source distance to detector distance from the interface. Applications are made to neutrons, gamma rays and particles whose energy does not change with scattering (one-veocity case). The analogous representation for problems in transmission of radiation through labs is also discussed. Keywords
