Abstract
By studying the behaviour of the time series of the difference between the observed values of milk yield and the fitted lactation curve, a stochastic model for milk yield is derived. The model is used to improve the fit of the lactation curve, to forecast milk yield and to generate simulated values of milk yield. Keywords
