Abstract
The authors have studied the luteogenesis in Scylliorhinus stellaris (oviparous species). The corpora lutea develop from the granulosa cells and the cuboidal cells of the theca interna of the post-ovulation follicles. Although the atretic follicles, as in Torpedo (ovoviviparous species) transform into glandular structures, they never show histoehemically any trace of steroid metabolism. The authors then discuss the possible function of the corpora lutea in the oviparous species, in view of the researches carried oh Birds and Amphibia. Keywords
