Abstract
The karyotype of L. lancifolium, triploid, was analyzed by means of C-banding technique. The clones observed were 2n = 36 chromosomes which consist of 6 long metacentric and 30 medium subtelocentric chromosomes, among which 8 chromosomes showed secondary contriction. Thirty-seven major and 23 minor bands were observed in the 30 chromosomes of complement, and the other 6 chromosomes did not show any bands. According to banding patterns, the 2n = 36 chromosomes were grouped into 2 sets of AA pairs and 1 set of B. Of the 12 pairs of chromosomes in sets AA, each pair was homologous. Twelve chromosomes in set B were not homologous to chromosomes in set A with respect to banding patterns. It is suggested that L. lancifolium is an allotriploid which consists of chromosome sets AAB.
