On double photoionisation

Abstract
It is suggested that energy coincidences between single- and double-ionisation thresholds for certain elements favour double ionisation by direct interaction between the incident photon and two electrons. The two-step autoionisation process which occurs in Ba I is shown to be less important for the elements considered.Keywords
