Abstract
A review of selected literature on the subject of group work with the aged indicates few controlled studies of effectiveness of group work with the aged. The reviewed articles and books suggest that leaders adopted group principles and group dynamics to a variety of groups and settings. Group methods and approaches ranged from book-discussion groups to psychoanalytic therapy groups. These diverse groups were led by nurses, directors of convalescent hospitals, social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, recreational, occupational, and physical therapists. Keywords
