Abstract
A method is presented for obtaining empirical form factors for the simple metals. The form factor v(q) contains two parameters which are determined by comparison with experimental data in the solid. The method is applied to obtain v(q) for the eight metals Na, K, Al, Pb, Be, Mg, Zn and Cd. For the first six of these metals the resulting v(q) is accurate to about 0.002 Ryd in most of the high q region. For Zn and Cd v(q) is accurate to 0.01-0.02 Ryd.Keywords
