Abstract
The equation of state for hard spheres in a hard spherical container with small hemispherical imperfections in the surface was calculated. It was found that a focusing of the particles occurs at approximately one particle diameter from the center, opposite the imperfections. In this region, there is a large increase in pressure and density and a change in the equation of state at this point. The sharp focusing is due to the focused radial velocity generated by the hemisphere interacting with the bulk fluid. The effect is apparent near the center as the density is lowest there. Keywords
