Abstract
Methods for preventing outbreaks of nosocomial infections and for controlling the spread of antibiotic-resistant bacteria are discussed. These measures involve epidemiologic surveillance to recognize new human infections early, to discover the source and mode of spread of the organism and plans to halt or minimize the spread. Concurrently provisions should be enforced to avoid or substantially limit the use of the major antibiotics to which the epidemic organism is resistant. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
