THE EFFECT OF FLUX PINNING AND FLUX CREEP ON MAGNETIC MEASUREMENTS OF SINGLE CRYSTAL Y1Ba2Cu3O7-x

Abstract
A series of noncontact magnetic measurements on high-quality single crystals of Y1Ba2Cu3O7-x indicate that the superconducting properties are those of a conventional anisotropic superconductor. However, the magnetic properties are profoundly affected by flux pinning. We develop a classical, thermally activated flux flow model which we use to extract HC1 from the decay of the remnant magnetization at low temperature and to explain the logarithmic frequency dependence and the curvature seen in the apparent HC2 near TC
