Abstract
49 adults (the same group used in the expt. described in the preceding paper) showed gross and biomicroscopic lesions of the gums. 25 of the group received 500 mg. of ascorbic acid daily for long periods; the gingival lesions in 2 almost entirely disappeared and all the others showed marked improvement. Control groups receiving vit. A or nicotinamide showed no improvement. Examination of the anterior gums is recommended as method of detecting avitaminosis. This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
