Lifetimes of charmed baryons

Abstract

Mass-splitting formulas are proposed as a link between charmed-meson and -baryon decays. A large annihilation contribution to charmed-baryon decays is thus obtained, leading to the prediction

τ ({Λ_{c}}^{+}) ≲ τ (D^{0}) < τ (D^{+})

. The approach is consistent with previous analysis of hyperon decays.
