Abstract
The vaginal fluid of patients with cervical carcinoma shows high [beta]-glucuronidase values considerably more often than normal. The prognosis of the patient (5 years'' observation time) and the spread for the disease do not seem to have any particular significance for the occurrence of low levels. In the cases of incipient carcinoma in this series the [beta]-glucuronidase content of the vaginal fluid was normal. Should there be a tendency to use [beta]-glucuronidase content of the vaginal fluid for purposes of diagnosis in order to establish cervical carcinoma, it would be well, at least for the time being, to adopt a very critical attitude, and also to have knowledge of the other factors which may affect changes in the [beta]-glucuronidase content. The increase of this content in the vaginal fluid does not seem to be specific nor to be a symptom invariably appearing in collum carcinoma patients. The [beta]-glucuronidase content in the vaginal fluid of patients with corpus cancer does not depart from the findings in the control series.
